We have all experienced hiccups. Medically speaking, hiccups represent involuntary spasms of the respiratory organs and the diaphragm which lead to the rapid closure of the glottis. There is no doubt that they are one of the strangest feelings that we can experience. But, many people are wondering whether animals can get hiccups. The fact is that many animal species can.
So, any animal that has a breathing system which includes diaphragm, lungs, epiglottis and a system where all these elements are linked to the breathing system found in humans can witness this annoying experience.
When people experience hiccups they use some techniques to stop them. They hold their breath, raise arms and use some other methods that can help. But, what can animals do and how do they react?
If we take a close look at the wolf pup in this video we can notice how surprised it looks when this happens. He doesn’t know what to do, so he starts licking the blanket.
He also tries to move his head and starts yawning. Luckily, the hiccups are gone after a while.
Similar to humans, hiccups in animal happen and go away on their own, so they don’t need to take some special measures to get rid of them. via
